The Rockies sent two minor league relievers to the Astros for most-time closer Matt Lindstrom today. On the one hand, Lindstrom is a pretty mediocre closer. Opponents hit over .300 against him and his career WHIP is just shy of 1.500. Still, he’s had some better seasons when he was with the Marlins and maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.
Of course on the other hand, the Rockies didn’t give up much. Neither Jonnathan Aristil nor Wes Musick are top flight prospects. Aristil may have contributed some in 2010 but with the way his minor league numbers looked, his chances with the big league club didn’t look good. Musick is just getting started and he had just an okay season in Low-A. Those saves Lindstrom picked up look nice but we’ll see how he does in Coors Field.
