Man, it’s been a while and I’m not just talking about the Rockies playoff drought. I’ve missed documenting quite a bit from the eleven game winning streak to all of the memorable moments of the season. The good news is, the season goes on as the Rockies took care of the Padres last night in an exciting thirteen inning shootout. Down by two runs in the thireenth, Troy Tulowitzki made it a one run game with an RBI double and he scored on Matt Holliday’s (MVP?) triple. Then Jamey Carroll hit one far enough to score Holliday to win it in grand style.
Team MVP has to go to Holliday. He had help but he was the horse as he led the team in just about everything. Best pitcher can go a couple of different ways but it was nice seeing Jeff Francis finally come into his own. Todd Helton helped out big as a nice table setter and you had Brad Hawpe and Garrett Atkins both driving in 100 runs.
The NLDS kicks off tomorrow and it’ll be Francis going up against Phillies ace Cole Hamels. Things won’t come back to Colorado until the weekend but hopefully the Rockies have at least a game under their belt by then.
